Audi S4 chassis noise causes and solutions include: Loose components: Due to violent impacts or improper installation of other equipment, causing mutual interference between two components; reshaping, repair, or replacement of related components can eliminate the interference. Loose bolts or nuts: Long-term driving on poor road conditions causes bolt loosening, or improper disassembly/installation leads to bolt damage or insufficient torque; bolts can be tightened, or replaced if necessary. Drive shaft universal joint failure: Damaged dust cover and oil leakage without timely repair, causing abnormal wear of small bearings; new outer (inner) CV joint or universal joint can be replaced.
Last time when I drove my Audi over a speed bump, I heard a clunking sound and went straight to the repair shop for inspection. The technician said it was an issue with the suspension system, especially the control arm bushings on Audi cars which are prone to aging and produce noise when encountering bumps. Loose tie rods can also cause metallic knocking sounds. If the shock absorber is leaking oil, a gurgling sound may accompany low-speed driving. It's recommended to first jack up the wheel and manually shake the tire to feel for any play.
