What Causes the Abnormal Noise in Baojun 510 on Bumpy Roads?

1. Engine Guard Plate: The most common source of abnormal noise is the self-installed engine guard plate, especially those made of iron. Minor underbody scraping often causes the plate to deform, bringing it too close or even in direct contact with the exhaust pipe. Since the exhaust pipe is suspended under the car, it vibrates when accelerating or driving on bumpy roads, leading to collisions and friction with the guard plate, which produces the noise. Therefore, if abnormal noise occurs only when crossing speed bumps, driving on rough roads, or accelerating, and you have installed a guard plate, this should be the first thing to check. 2. Tire Noise While Driving: There are generally two types of noises: a tapping sound and a humming sound. If you hear a tapping sound, carefully listen to identify which wheel is making the noise, or check all wheels if unsure. Possible causes include a large screw puncturing the tire or a big stone stuck in the tread. For a humming sound, it’s not something you can fix yourself—it might be due to uneven tire wear or a damaged wheel bearing, requiring immediate inspection at a repair shop. 3. Steering Wheel Noise: A humming sound when turning the steering wheel to its limit is normal, as it’s the power steering pump releasing pressure under high load. If there’s a squeaky friction noise near the steering wheel, it might be due to the airbag coil rubbing or contact with the plastic trim below the wheel, which can be adjusted.
