What Causes Steering Abnormal Noise?
1 Answers
Abnormal noise during car steering may be caused by a faulty airbag clock spring inside the steering wheel or aging of the steering tie rod ball joint. Reasons for abnormal noise when turning the steering wheel: Loosening or damage of the stabilizer bar bushings. Loose or damaged stabilizer bar bushings not only cause noise when turning but also produce sounds when driving on uneven roads. Loose stabilizer bar bushings can be fixed by adding shims, while damaged ones must be replaced. Consequences of aging car ball joints: Damaged ball joints can cause slight displacement of the suspension, leading to errors in wheel alignment data, which may result in uneven tire wear or even steering deviation. It is advisable to address the issue at a nearby repair shop as soon as possible to avoid greater losses. Note that after fixing the chassis issue, a wheel alignment must be performed; otherwise, the problem will persist. If the ball joint is excessively loose, it may cause the connecting rods and arms to break or even detach under load impact.
