What Causes Noises While Driving?

Here are the possible causes of noises while driving: 1. Transmission noise: If the car makes abnormal sounds during idling, and the noise disappears when the clutch is pressed, it indicates that the noise is caused by a transmission malfunction. Transmission noise is generally caused by worn bearings or gears. When accelerating sharply while driving, you may hear noise coming from the chassis. 2. Engine compartment noise: Some engine vibrations and sounds are normal, but there are exceptions, such as the high-pitched squealing of a belt, which is usually caused by belt slippage; another example is the sharp sound of metal parts rubbing, which is often due to damaged bearings in the generator, water pump, or power steering pump. 3. Steering wheel noise: If a "click" sound is heard when turning the steering wheel left or right, it is most likely caused by an issue with the steering gear. Among these, friction due to aging of the steering linkage and ball joint rubber sleeves is the most common. Additionally, leaking steering gear dust covers, loose or aged power steering belts can also cause abnormal noises.
