What Causes Intermittent Spark in Motorcycle High Voltage?
1 Answers
Motorcycle high voltage sometimes has spark and sometimes doesn't, the reasons are as follows: Trigger coil resistance: When there's no spark in motorcycle high voltage, first use a multimeter to measure whether the resistance values of the ignition coil and trigger coil on the stator are normal (for DC ignition stators which don't have ignition coils, only the trigger coil needs to be measured). Also check whether the high voltage coil is functioning properly. Short circuit in kill wire: For AC ignition systems, check if there's any short circuit in the kill wire. Try replacing with an identical model ignition unit for testing. For DC ignition systems, inspect whether the ignition unit power wire has electricity. Open or short circuit faults: Check for any open or short circuit faults in the wiring between the stator, ignition unit, high voltage coil, ignition switch (main switch), and kill switch.
