What Causes Excessive Vehicle Emissions?
1 Answers
Excessive vehicle emissions can be caused by poor fuel quality, a damaged three-way catalytic converter, or malfunctions in certain sensors near the engine, such as the oxygen sensor, camshaft position sensor, intake air flow sensor, intake air temperature sensor, or coolant temperature sensor. Excessive emissions mean that the vehicle's exhaust emissions exceed the specified standards. Engine sensors provide the Engine Control Unit (ECU) with information about the engine's operating conditions, allowing the ECU to precisely calculate and control the engine's performance to enhance power, reduce fuel consumption, minimize exhaust emissions, and detect faults. Vehicle emission standards can be categorized based on the year of production. Cars produced before 2011 are generally classified as China II or China III vehicles. Those produced after 2011 are mostly China IV or China V vehicles, while cars manufactured in 2019 are generally China VI vehicles.
