What Causes Engine Shaking and Malfunction Light Illumination?
1 Answers
Engine shaking accompanied by the illumination of the malfunction indicator light may be caused by engine misfire, excessive carbon buildup in the intake system, or issues within the ignition system. There are two scenarios for the malfunction light being on: 1. The light is on, but the vehicle drives normally without any noticeable abnormalities in acceleration or braking, and can currently be operated. This could be due to a one-time sensor malfunction, interference from certain external conditions, or a fault that doesn't affect driving performance but may have some impact on emissions. In this case, you may continue driving temporarily but should have the vehicle inspected at a repair shop. 2. The malfunction light is on, and the vehicle exhibits obvious abnormalities such as severe shaking or lack of power during acceleration. In this situation, it's best not to continue driving and to request roadside assistance or a tow truck. If the repair shop is very close, you may cautiously drive there. Since there are clear symptoms of a malfunction, this indicates a relatively serious issue. Continuing to drive could worsen the fault or allow the damage to accumulate, potentially leading to additional failures. Therefore, it is not recommended to continue driving under these circumstances.
