What Causes Engine Idling Noise?
1 Answers
Engine idling noise can be attributed to the following reasons: 1. Drawbacks of direct fuel injection technology: Direct injection engines tend to be noisier because the fuel injection pressure in these engines is over ten times higher than that of conventional engines. The high-pressure fuel injectors create vibrations, resulting in a noticeable "ticking" sound during quiet conditions or slow-speed driving. 2. Operation of the carbon canister purge valve: The carbon canister purge valve opens when the engine starts, allowing the gasoline vapors stored in the carbon canister to be drawn into the intake manifold along with air for combustion. This process not only reduces emissions but also improves fuel efficiency. During operation, this component can produce a clear "ticking" sound as well.
