What Causes Electronic Steering Wheel Lock Failure?
1 Answers
Electronic steering wheel lock failure can be caused by the following reasons: 1. Dirty oil reservoir, clogged filter screen, or low oil level: Clean the oil reservoir and refill it to the specified oil level. 2. Excessive air in the power steering system: Clean the power steering pump and oil pipes inside and out, and bleed the air from the steering system as specified. 3. Foreign objects in the steering system causing the steering pump flow control valve to stick: Inspect the steering gear, steering pump, control valve, oil reservoir filter screen, and steering fluid. Clean the entire power steering system. 4. Insufficient tire pressure, interference with the steering column, loose connections, loose or slipping pump belt, or loose pump installation: Inflate the tires to the specified pressure, adjust the belt tension as specified, and tighten all connection screws. 5. Loose bolts at oil pipe connections causing steering fluid leakage: Check all connection points of the oil pipes and tighten the connection bolts. 6. Excessive wear of the steering gear piston cylinder, poor oil seal performance, or stuck/damaged control valve: Replace the oil pipe, power steering pump, or power steering gear.
