What Causes Crankshaft Oil Seal Leakage?
1 Answers
Crankshaft oil seal leakage can be attributed to the following reasons: 1. Failure to use non-petroleum-based lubricants: During the pressing process of the crankshaft oil seal, the absence of non-petroleum-based lubricants can lead to the oil seal becoming loose or even falling off after the engine has been in use for some time (for instance, some engine manufacturers may opt for engine oil instead of the relatively more expensive non-petroleum-based lubricants to reduce production costs). 2. Improper installation: If the parallelism between the pressing surface of the rear oil seal and the installation surface of the rear oil seal seat does not meet the technical requirements specified in the assembly drawing, the lip of the rear oil seal may experience uneven force deformation. Over time, this can cause the lip to deform or even result in the entire oil seal twisting, leading to oil seal damage and engine oil leakage. 3. Prolonged usage: Extended use of the engine can cause the rear oil seal to naturally age, developing cracks at the lip area, which results in oil leakage.
