What Causes Abnormal Noises in Motorcycles?
1 Answers
Motorcycles may produce abnormal noises due to the following reasons: carbon buildup blockage, engine noise, piston side knocking, and component failures. Carbon Buildup Blockage: Excessive carbon deposits in the engine, intake tract, throttle body, etc. Engine Noise: As the maintenance cycle approaches, engine noise may increase due to worn and deteriorated engine oil. Piston Side Knocking: Check the valve clearance and the tension of the timing chain. Adjusting them correctly will resolve the piston knocking sound. The knocking noise is louder when the engine is cold and diminishes or stops as the temperature rises, which may indicate piston side knocking. Component Failures: Certain faulty components can also cause abnormal noises, such as the belt tensioner, ignition coil leakage, water pump, or leaks in the intake or exhaust pipes.
