What causes a motorcycle motor to squeak but not start?

The reasons why a motorcycle does not start and makes abnormal noises are a dead battery, malfunctioning spark plugs, or a faulty motor. Below are the maintenance considerations for motorcycles: Oil change interval: If using semi-synthetic oil, the replacement cycle is generally 3,000 kilometers. It is possible to push it to 4,000 kilometers, but to ensure the engine's longevity, it is recommended to change the oil every 3,000 kilometers. Each time you change the oil, pour about 100 milliliters of the residual oil into the exhaust pipe. Gasoline selection: Try to refuel at large local Sinopec gas stations and opt for 93-octane gasoline with carbon deposit removal additives. Air filter, carburetor, and oil filter cleaning: Every 3,000 kilometers, which is each time you change the oil, clean the air filter and oil filter. Every 6,000 kilometers, or every other oil change, clean the carburetor.
I used to help people repair motorcycles at the auto shop. In most cases, when a bike squeaks but won't start, it's due to a weak or aging battery. When the battery voltage drops below 12 volts, the starter motor can't draw enough current, resulting in a squeaking friction sound and failure to ignite. Sometimes, the issue lies with the starter motor itself—worn internal gears or a faulty solenoid can cause difficulty in turning. If the belt system is loose or slipping, it can also produce a squeaking sound during startup without the engine moving. Check if the battery terminals are corroded or loose, and use a multimeter to measure the voltage—it should normally be above 12.6 volts. If the belt feels loose or cracked, replace it. Don’t forget to check if any fuses are blown by locating the corresponding position in the fuse box. Never force-start the bike, as a short circuit could cause further damage—take it directly to a professional repair shop for a thorough inspection. Preventive measures include testing the battery voltage every three months and regularly replacing the battery and inspecting the belt condition.
