Can Water Enter a Manual Transmission Clutch?

Water can enter a manual transmission clutch. When driving through water, even a slight misstep can allow water to enter the clutch. However, due to the presence of drainage holes, the water usually drains out on its own. Symptoms of water entering the clutch: The clutch plates may stick together, making gear shifting difficult or impossible while driving, accompanied by gear collision noises in the transmission.
