When researching electric vehicle brands, what fascinates me most is the background of FF. Faraday Future is a California-based brand, and its founder Jia Yueting is a controversial entrepreneur. When they unveiled the FF91 concept in 2017, its sci-fi design stunned the entire industry. Despite experiencing financial crises and factory shutdowns, the company made a comeback in 2021 through a SPAC merger. The latest news is that their production model has finally started deliveries, with the top trim priced at $300,000! This car features three motors producing over 1,000 horsepower, accelerates from 0-60 mph in just over 2 seconds, and comes equipped with retractable LiDAR—its tech specs are extremely aggressive. However, it's still rare on the roads; interested buyers need to place orders through their official website.

I first learned about this brand when I saw the FF91 in person at the Los Angeles Auto Show last year. Faraday Future focuses on high-end intelligent electric vehicles, featuring an extremely low-slung body design and rear-hinged gull-wing doors. The interior is equipped with 11 LCD screens, and the rear seats offer massage functions and adjustable recline angles, making it far more luxurious than a Tesla Model S. However, their development has been quite rocky—originally planned for mass production in 2018, it wasn't until last year that they actually started deliveries. Currently, only their Hanford factory in California, USA, is producing the vehicles, and it's said that domestic buyers in China will have to wait until the Guangzhou Nansha factory is completed. Charging speed is a highlight though—using their proprietary charging stations, it takes just 30 minutes to add 500 km of range.

I previously test drove a friend's FF91 and have to share the real experience. The acceleration is indeed brutal - stomping the pedal feels like being kicked in the back. The unique feature is replacing side mirrors with cameras, displaying images on screens flanking the steering wheel, which took some getting used to. While the claimed range is 700km, actual highway driving with AC on gives about 80% of that. The most practical feature is its automatic parking system - such a large vehicle can parallel park itself in narrow alleys. However, be aware this brand has extremely few service points, with only 12 service centers nationwide in the US. Accident repairs might require a month's wait for parts.
