Vehicles with green license plates are new energy vehicles. To better distinguish and identify new energy vehicles and implement differentiated traffic management, China has introduced special license plates for new energy vehicles. Only vehicles that can be externally charged are considered new energy vehicles and can be issued green license plates. The first digit of the license plate serial number is 'D', representing pure electric vehicles, while 'F' represents non-pure electric vehicles, such as fuel cell vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. For small vehicles, 'D' or 'F' is located as the first digit of the serial number, whereas for large vehicles, 'D' or 'F' is placed as the last digit of the serial number.
