Motor vehicle driver's licenses are valid for periods of six years, ten years, and indefinitely. Regulations on the use of motor vehicle driver's licenses: According to Article 26 of the "Regulations for the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China", if a motor vehicle driver has not accumulated 12 penalty points in any scoring cycle during the six-year validity period of their driver's license, they can renew it for a ten-year validity period. If the driver again does not accumulate 12 penalty points in any scoring cycle during the ten-year validity period, they can renew it for an indefinitely valid driver's license. Documents required for renewing a motor vehicle driver's license: A duly completed "Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form"; the original "Medical Certificate for Motor Vehicle Drivers" issued by a county-level or above medical institution designated by the municipal health bureau; the original and a copy of the applicant's identity document (if applying through an agent, the original and a copy of the agent's identity document must also be submitted. Residents temporarily residing in the city must submit residence or temporary residence permits issued by the public security authorities in addition to their ID card); the original motor vehicle driver's license; three recent one-inch color full-face photos of the driver with a white background and no hat.
