What are the types of rear suspension in cars?

There are two types of rear suspension, namely the link type and the swing arm type. The rear suspension is the connecting device between the car body and the wheels, and the comfort of the car depends on the suspension. The car suspension consists of elastic elements, shock absorbers, and force transmission devices. Because the rear suspension plays an important role, there are more types of rear suspension systems than front suspension systems. The link-type rear suspension is used together with the left and right integrated rear axle. In the past, car technology was not very advanced. Usually, the rear suspension was supported by leaf springs. Later, considering the riding comfort of rear passengers and the overall vehicle comfort, the suspension method was adopted. The link-type rear suspension has a pair on each side of the car, divided into upper and lower pull rods. The swing arm-type rear suspension is fixed in the middle of the axle together with the differential, and there are universal joints between the differential and the wheels. The swing arm suspension can be divided into full-trailing swing arm and semi-trailing swing arm. The drive shaft parallel to the axle is the full-trailing type, and the drive shaft not parallel to the axle is the semi-trailing type. The design of the car suspension is to ensure riding comfort and is one of the important components of the car. Car suspension is often used as one of the indicators to measure car quality.
