Automobiles can be categorized by purpose into vehicles equipped with specific equipment for particular tasks and those specialized for transportation. The relevant classifications are as follows: General transportation vehicles are divided into: passenger cars, buses, and trucks. Both passenger cars and buses are designed for carrying people, while trucks are used for transporting goods. Passenger cars can be further classified by engine displacement into micro cars, light cars, mid-size cars, upper-mid-size cars, and luxury cars. By purpose: they can be roughly divided into two categories. The first refers to vehicles equipped with specific equipment for particular tasks, such as the commonly seen fire trucks, police cars, and sanitation vehicles. The second category includes those specialized for transportation, such as concrete mixers, semi-trailers, and garbage trucks.
