Car three filters refer to the air filter, fuel filter, and oil filter. The "three filters" play a filtering role for air, oil, and gasoline in the car engine, thereby protecting the engine. 1. Air filter: Ensures the air entering the engine is clean. There is a lot of dust suspended in the air, mainly composed of silicon dioxide, which is a substance harder than metal. Installing an air filter can reduce the wear of parts such as cylinders, pistons, and piston rings. If a car does not install it, cylinder wear will increase by 7 times, piston wear by 3 times, and piston ring wear by 8 times. Therefore, modern car engines are equipped with air filters at the carburetor (or the intake control device of fuel injection engines). 2. Fuel filter: Ensures the fuel is clean and prevents vapor lock. During the storage, transportation, and refueling process of gasoline, it is inevitable to mix in some impurities and water. These impurities are brought into the fuel supply system and engine cylinders with the fuel, accelerating cylinder wear. Before gasoline enters the fuel pump, it must be filtered to ensure the normal operation of the fuel supply system. 3. Oil filter: Filters the oil to ensure the normal operation of the engine, and is the most important among the three filters. During the use of internal combustion engines, mechanical impurities such as dust, metal shavings, and carbon deposits will continuously mix into the oil. At the same time, the oxidation of oil by air and combustion exhaust gases will gradually produce gum. The mixture of mechanical impurities and gum will also form sludge, which not only accelerates the wear of moving parts but also easily causes oil circuit blockage. To ensure the cleanliness of the oil, the engine is equipped with an oil filter in the lubrication system.
