What are the symptoms of low cylinder pressure?
1 Answers
Cylinder pressure being too low indicates a reduction in cylinder sealing, which manifests as follows: 1. It leads to a decrease in engine power, causing the vehicle to feel weak during driving. 2. Results in reduced fuel economy, increasing the vehicle's fuel consumption. 3. Causes difficulty in starting and may lead to malfunctions. 4. If individual cylinders have insufficient pressure, it can make the engine run unevenly, consume more fuel, and reduce power output. The main causes of low cylinder pressure are as follows: 1. Excessive side clearance or end gap of piston rings, or a shortened labyrinth path for gas flow. 2. Excessive wear between the piston and cylinder, increasing the clearance between them. 3. Cylinder scoring, which damages the seal between the piston ring and cylinder, leading to low cylinder pressure. 4. Blown cylinder head gasket, loose valve seat, broken or weak valve spring, or carbon buildup and insufficient clearance between the valve and valve guide. 5. Incorrect installation of the timing gear or improper gear keyway.
