What are the symptoms of a transmission oil temperature sensor failure?
1 Answers
Symptoms of a transmission oil temperature sensor failure include jerky starts, impacts when shifting to 2nd and 3rd gears, delayed engagement in reverse gear, unusual noises, and transmission fault warnings. Below is additional information: Function of the transmission oil temperature sensor: The transmission oil temperature sensor is installed on the valve plate inside the automatic transmission oil pan. Its purpose is to detect the temperature of the automatic transmission hydraulic oil, which serves as the basis for the electronic control unit to perform shift control, oil pressure control, and lock-up clutch control. Principle of the transmission oil temperature sensor: Inside the transmission oil temperature sensor is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) semiconductor thermistor. The higher the temperature, the lower the resistance. The characteristic curve of its resistance changing with temperature can be seen in the NTC thermistor characteristics of the coolant temperature sensor. The computer determines the temperature of the automatic transmission hydraulic oil based on the changes in its resistance.
