The symptoms of a faulty fuel metering unit are: 1. The dashboard warning light illuminates, which may cut off the fuel injection to the engine, and continued use can easily lead to the engine failing to operate normally; 2. The engine may experience lack of power, stalling, or emitting black smoke. In the electronic fuel injection system, the fuel metering unit is an indispensable component, also known as the fuel metering proportional valve. It provides the ECU with fuel supply quantity and fuel pressure values, and is generally installed at the inlet of the high-pressure fuel pump. When the control coil of the fuel metering unit is not energized, the valve port is unobstructed, similar to an open solenoid valve, allowing maximum fuel flow to the fuel pump. The ECU changes the fuel intake quantity by altering the cross-sectional area of the high-pressure fuel pump's inlet through signals.
