What are the symptoms of a damaged transmission cable?

Symptoms of a damaged transmission cable include: vehicle slippage, weak acceleration; abnormal noises while driving; engine stalling when engaging a gear or experiencing jerks during gear engagement, shifting, or driving. Before the shift cable breaks, you may notice that pressing the clutch feels unusually strenuous, gears are difficult to engage, or they don't engage fully. If the shift cable end becomes detached from the gear lever head or the clutch cable breaks, it can result in the inability to shift gears. This happens because the steel wire inside the shift cable is about to break, rendering all gear positions neutral without needing to press the clutch. Upon opening the shift box, you can observe that the inner shift cable end has detached from the gear lever head, causing the inability to shift gears. Solution: Avoid coasting in neutral. In normal driving, it is not recommended to use the N gear for coasting. While driving, do not pull the gear lever to the "N" position. To maximize fuel efficiency, when going downhill, it is advisable to use the S gear or a lower gear in manual mode to fully utilize engine braking and prevent thermal degradation of brake pads due to prolonged braking, which can impair braking performance.
