The following are the relevant steps for resetting the maintenance light on a Suzuki Vitara: Turn on the ignition: Turn on the ignition, and with the engine running, display the selector handle and adjust the information display to a black screen. Display screen: The display screen will show in sequence: Instant fuel consumption - Average fuel consumption - Remaining range - Average speed - Black screen. Long press the mileage button: Press and hold the left mileage button for more than 5 seconds until the oil lock display appears on the screen. Release the button: At this point, release the button, and the display area will show the word "OIL" for 2 seconds. Press quickly 5 times in a row: After completing the above steps, release the button and immediately press the left button quickly 5 times in a row within 3 seconds. Display turns off: After "OIL" flashes 3 times as a prompt, it will turn off, and "SUCCESSFUL" will be displayed.
Last time I helped my brother reset the maintenance light on his Suzuki Vitara, the process was quite straightforward. First, make sure the car is turned off and the key is completely removed, then wait for 2 minutes. Next, press and hold the small TRIP button on the right side of the dashboard while turning the key to the ON position with your other hand (the position where all dashboard lights come on), but do not start the engine. You'll see the little wrench icon start flashing—keep holding the button without releasing it for about 15 seconds until the wrench icon disappears completely. Release the button and turn off the ignition. The annoying maintenance reminder won't appear the next time you start the car. Remember to wear gloves when doing this, especially in winter when cold hands might accidentally press other buttons.
