Simply remove the plastic cover of the steering column, then take out the anti-theft screws, remove the old ignition lock, and replace it with a new one. The Octavia's ignition lock has two anti-theft screws, and it is recommended to have a professional remove them. Below is some information about the Octavia: 1. The Octavia is a compact car under the Skoda brand. The 2019 Octavia is equipped with three engines: a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, a 1.2L turbocharged engine, and a 1.4L turbocharged engine. 2. The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine has a maximum power of 83 kW, a maximum torque of 145 Nm, a maximum power speed of 6000 rpm, and a maximum torque speed of 3900 rpm. This engine features multi-point fuel injection technology and uses an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block. 3. The 1.2L turbocharged engine has a maximum power of 85 kW, a maximum torque of 200 Nm, a maximum power speed of 5000 rpm, and a maximum torque speed range of 1800 to 3700 rpm. This engine is equipped with direct fuel injection technology and uses an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block. 4. The 1.4L turbocharged engine has a maximum power of 110 kW, a maximum torque of 250 Nm, a maximum power speed of 5000 rpm, and a maximum torque speed range of 1750 to 3000 rpm. This engine features direct fuel injection technology and uses an aluminum alloy cylinder head and block.
I've disassembled quite a few old Octavia ignition locks. Remember to disconnect the negative battery terminal first to prevent accidental airbag deployment. Use a T20 screwdriver to remove the two cover screws under the steering wheel and take off the plastic cover. Loosen the steering wheel fixing bolt, place soft cloth padding, and slowly pull off the steering wheel using a puller tool (don't force it with hammering). After exposing the steering column, remove the ignition lock protective cover - there are two small screws hidden in recesses. Unplug the wiring harness connector from the lock cylinder. Carefully observe there's a small hole on the side of the lock body - straighten a paperclip and insert it to push the retaining pin while pulling out the lock cylinder with your other hand. Avoid using brute force during the entire process, especially when pushing the pin - slightly tilting the lock cylinder makes removal easier. When reinstalling, ensure the pin is completely seated in position.
