The signs that engine oil needs to be changed are: 1. Check the oil quality—if the color turns black and it smells acidic, the oil needs to be replaced; 2. Use your finger to check if the oil still has viscosity; 3. Difficulty shifting gears when starting the car cold. The method for changing engine oil is: 1. Remove the air filter, clean it with an air pump, and reinstall it; 2. Lift the car, unscrew the drain plug to release the old oil, and remove the oil filter; 3. Add approximately 3.5 liters of new oil. The functions of engine oil are: 1. Reducing friction and high temperatures; 2. Cooling and lowering temperature; 3. Cleaning and removing contaminants; 4. Dampening vibrations and shocks; 5. Preventing rust and corrosion.

I remember the mechanic mentioned during the last service that there are three main signals for oil change: First is mileage – conventional mineral oil should be changed every 5,000 kilometers, while full synthetic oil can last up to around 10,000 kilometers. Second is time – even if the car hasn't been driven much, the oil will oxidize and deteriorate after about six months. Third is routine dipstick checks – if the oil turns as black as coffee grounds or becomes as thick as honey (forming strings when pulled), it's time for a change. Additionally, if the engine sound becomes hoarse or fuel consumption suddenly increases, these could also be signs of aging oil. Old Zhang in our neighborhood delayed his oil change, ending up with an 8,000-yuan engine overhaul – definitely not worth it.

I generally follow the maintenance manual for my car, but also adjust based on actual driving conditions. For regular city commuting, I change the oil when the dashboard maintenance reminder appears. If I've recently taken long trips or frequently driven on mountain roads, I'll inspect it half a month earlier. Once after a road trip to Inner Mongolia, I noticed the engine oil was particularly black. The mechanic explained that sandy/dusty areas accelerate oil contamination. Now I've developed a habit of checking the dipstick monthly - healthy oil should be amber and transparent. If it's dark with metal particles, immediate replacement is needed. During my last maintenance, I learned a useful trick: drip oil onto a tissue paper - uneven color dispersion in the spreading ring indicates it's time for a change.

What are the reasons for OBD failure?

The reasons for OBD failure are: 1. caused by an outdated OBD system; 2. due to malfunctioning sensors in the OBD system; 3. engine failure. OBD stands for On-Board Diagnostics, which continuously monitors the vehicle's operating conditions during operation, working in conjunction with numerous sensors to monitor the engine's operating status and the performance of the exhaust treatment system in real time. OBD monitors the engine, catalytic converter, particulate filter, oxygen sensors, emission control system, fuel system, EGR system, and related components in real time. It connects to the ECU with various emission-related component information. When an emission fault occurs, the ECU records the fault information and related codes, and issues a warning through the malfunction indicator lamp to inform the vehicle owner.

Can Tires Float on Water?

Yes, tires are made of rubber, and the density of rubber is lower than that of water, so they will definitely float. Below is relevant information: Introduction: Car tires are one of the important components of a vehicle. They directly contact the road surface and work together with the car suspension to mitigate the impacts encountered during driving, ensuring good ride comfort and smooth driving. They also ensure good adhesion between the wheels and the road surface, improve the vehicle's traction, braking, and off-road capability, and bear the weight of the car. The important role tires play in vehicles is increasingly being recognized. Tread Classification: Can be divided into ribbed tread, transverse tread tires, mixed tread tires, and off-road tread tires.

When Can You Enter the Left-Turn Waiting Zone at Traffic Lights?

Conditions for entering the left-turn waiting zone: 1. When both the straight and left-turn signals are red, left-turning vehicles are prohibited from entering the waiting zone and should queue behind the stop line until permitted to proceed. 2. When the straight signal in the same direction turns green (while the left-turn signal remains red), left-turning vehicles should enter the waiting zone in order and wait to turn left. When the left-turn signal subsequently turns green, vehicles in the waiting zone should proceed to turn left through the intersection in sequence. 3. When the left-turn signal is red (or yellow), left-turning vehicles that have not yet entered the waiting zone should stop behind the stop line and wait, and must not enter the waiting zone. Vehicles already in the waiting zone should continue to turn left through the intersection without stopping within the intersection, maintaining smooth traffic flow.

Must the driver's license renewal be done in person after expiration?

Driver's license renewal after expiration does not necessarily require the license holder to appear in person. There are three alternative methods available: self-processing, entrusting an agent, or online processing. Below are the specific details: 1. If for special reasons the license holder cannot personally process the renewal, they may choose to authorize an agent or complete the renewal online, neither of which requires the license holder to visit the vehicle management office. 2. The full name of a driver's license is 'Motor Vehicle Driver's License,' also referred to simply as a driver's license. It is a legally required certification that motor vehicle operators must obtain. 3. Operating a motor vehicle requires certain driving skills. Those lacking such skills who drive motor vehicles recklessly risk causing traffic accidents.
