What are the reasons for the failure of Renault's one-button start?

Steering wheel lock, gear not engaged in P position, and insufficient battery power of the smart key can all cause the one-button start of Renault cars to fail. The steering wheel lock is an anti-theft feature. When the car is turned off, rotating the steering wheel from the straight position to a certain angle in one direction will lock the steering wheel. In the locked state, the one-button start function will not work. It is necessary to turn the steering wheel left and right while pressing the engine one-button start button to release the tension and unlock the steering wheel. Renault cars cannot start when the gear is not engaged in P position. This setting is designed to protect the transmission and avoid safety hazards. Therefore, when the one-button start fails, check whether the gear lever is engaged in P position. After the vehicle is powered on, the dashboard will display the current gear position of the vehicle. If it is not in P position, it needs to be re-engaged. Insufficient battery power of the smart key will reduce the transmission power, and the sensor inside the car will not detect the presence of the key. At this time, the vehicle's electronic anti-theft system will be activated and lock the engine start. Usually, the service life of a car key is 2-3 years. Long-term use will lead to insufficient battery power. Simply disassemble the key and replace the battery.
I've been repairing Renaults for over a decade. There are typically three main causes for push-button start failures: low key battery, brake pedal not fully depressed, or smart key recognition zone malfunction. First try replacing your key battery - just get a standard CR2032 coin cell from the supermarket, make sure not to get the wrong model. If that doesn't work, sit in the driver's seat, press the brake pedal firmly while holding the key against the start button for emergency starting - many French cars have this feature. Lastly, it could be the gear position sensor stuck in Park without resetting. Try shifting gears back and forth a few times to listen for any clicking sounds. Electronic shifters are particularly prone to this issue.
