What are the reasons for the BYD S6 horn not working?

There are several reasons why the BYD S6 horn may not work: Speaker wiring break or crossover abnormality: If the speaker wiring breaks, the speaker unit will not receive excitation voltage, resulting in a no-sound failure. The crossover is generally not prone to breakage, but faults such as desoldering of lead connections or short-circuiting of crossover capacitors may occur. Speaker voice coil break: If the voice coil inside the car's speaker breaks, it will cause the horn to stop working. Replace or repair the voice coil inside the speaker. Speaker lead break: Due to the frequent vibration of the car horn's speaker cone, the braided wire is prone to breakage. Sometimes the wire may be broken, but the cotton core wire remains connected.
When my BYD S6's horn stopped working, I panicked for a moment. The first thing that usually comes to mind in such cases is a blown fuse. Open the fuse box under the steering wheel and check for any small blackened components—replacing them often solves the problem. It could also be that the horn itself is faulty; over time, it can rust, the buttons wear out, or the wiring connections become loose, leading to poor contact. Driving without a functioning horn is extremely dangerous—imagine not being able to honk at intersections or in emergencies. I later learned to keep spare fuses at home and regularly check the horn wiring during maintenance. If these steps don’t work, it’s best to visit a professional shop to test the relay or the entire circuit—don’t let it become a safety hazard.
