What are the reasons for insufficient power in Jetta?

Reasons for insufficient power in Jetta: Fuel system issues: The fuel system is a common problem area in cars. Insufficient fuel entering the combustion chamber may be caused by clogged fuel injectors, fuel leaks, reduced fuel pump performance, or a blocked fuel filter. Blocked fuel filter: The sudden loss of power in the car is mainly due to the engine suddenly not getting enough fuel. When the fuel filter is blocked, the car may not get enough fuel when tilted. Clogged fuel injectors: If the fuel injectors are clogged or the fuel pump fails to deliver high-pressure fuel, the fuel cannot be effectively atomized, leading to reduced combustion efficiency and failure to achieve the desired performance.
My previous Jetta had a problem with insufficient power, especially when climbing hills with the AC on. After inspection, it turned out the air filter was too dirty, causing restricted airflow—like it was being strangled and couldn't breathe properly. It could also be due to carbon buildup in the throttle body, which was quite noticeable with rough idling. Poor fuel quality in the tank can also make the engine feel sluggish; adding two bottles of fuel additive helped a bit. The most troublesome issue was a clogged catalytic converter, which had to be removed for cleaning. It's normal for older cars to experience reduced drivetrain efficiency. I suggest starting with replacing the air filter and cleaning the throttle body. If that doesn’t work, you might need to check cylinder compression to assess the engine's internal condition.
