Reversing on the highway will result in a fine and 12 demerit points. According to Article 82 of the Regulations for the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law, motor vehicles driving on highways shall not engage in the following behaviors: 1. Reversing, driving against the traffic flow, making U-turns by crossing the central divider, or stopping within the lane; 2. Overtaking on ramps, acceleration lanes, or deceleration lanes; 3. Riding or straddling the lane dividing line or driving on the shoulder; 4. Driving or stopping on the emergency lane under non-emergency circumstances; 5. Test driving or learning to drive a motor vehicle. Article 67 of the Road Traffic Safety Law stipulates that pedestrians, non-motor vehicles, tractors, wheeled special machinery vehicles, articulated buses, full trailers, and other motor vehicles with a designed maximum speed of less than 70 kilometers per hour are not allowed to enter highways; the maximum speed indicated by highway speed limit signs shall not exceed 120 kilometers per hour.
