According to the "Regulations for the Implementation of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China": If a motor vehicle is driven on a highway without following the designated lane, the penalty is 3 demerit points and a fine of 50 yuan. If a motor vehicle is driven on an urban expressway without following the designated lane, the penalty is 3 demerit points and a fine of 50 yuan. If a motor vehicle is driven on roads other than highways or urban expressways without following the designated lane, there will be no demerit points, but a fine of 50 yuan will be imposed. Additional information: Prohibited from driving on highways: Article 67 of the "Road Traffic Safety Law" stipulates that pedestrians, non-motor vehicles, tractors, wheeled special machinery vehicles, articulated buses, full trailers, and other motor vehicles with a design maximum speed of less than 70 kilometers per hour are not allowed to enter highways. For vehicles prohibited from entering highways that still do so, the public traffic management department will impose a fine ranging from 20 to 200 yuan and 3 demerit points in accordance with the "Road Traffic Safety Law" and Order No. 123.
Once I just got off the highway when someone suddenly occupied the overtaking lane and drove slowly, almost causing me to rear-end them. Driving on the highway without following the lane rules is no joke—like using the emergency lane or crawling in the overtaking lane for too long. According to traffic laws, if caught, you'll be fined 200 yuan and get 3 demerit points. I was fined 200 yuan once and had to spend half a day at the traffic police station to deal with it. It's not just about the money—it could also cause a crash. Overtaking on the highway is fast, and breaking the rules is super dangerous. My advice is to develop good habits: leave the fast lane for overtaking, don’t block the way by driving too slowly, and regret won’t help if an accident happens. Safety first is the real deal. Remember to check your navigation before setting off and stay focused while driving.
