The penalties for immediately reversing after making an illegal left turn are as follows: According to the Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driving Licenses (Ministry of Public Security Order No. 123), motor vehicle drivers committing any of the following violations will be penalized with 3 demerit points: driving a motor vehicle without following overtaking or yielding regulations, or driving in the wrong direction. Motor vehicle drivers committing any of the following violations will be penalized with 12 demerit points: reversing, driving in the wrong direction, or crossing the central divider on a highway. Article 50 of the Implementation Regulations of the Road Traffic Safety Law states: When reversing a motor vehicle, the driver must check the rear situation and confirm safety before reversing; reversing is prohibited at railway crossings, intersections, one-way roads, bridges, sharp curves, steep slopes, or tunnels.
