Using the emergency lane without an emergency situation will result in a fine and corresponding penalty points. Permissible situations for using the emergency lane: Sudden illness of a passenger in the vehicle; when the vehicle experiences a sudden malfunction and cannot operate normally; emergency official vehicles. The emergency lane is primarily marked on urban ring roads, expressways, and highways, specifically for vehicles handling emergencies such as engineering rescue, firefighting, medical aid, or police performing urgent official duties. It is prohibited for any private vehicle to enter or remain in the lane for any reason. According to new traffic regulations, if a motor vehicle encounters traffic congestion on urban expressways or highways and stops on the emergency lane or shoulder without an emergency, it will be fined and receive corresponding penalty points, which must be paid within 15 days. Prohibited behaviors while driving on highways: Reversing, driving against the flow, crossing the central divider to make a U-turn, or stopping within the lane; overtaking on ramps, acceleration lanes, or deceleration lanes; riding or straddling the lane dividing line or driving on the shoulder; driving or stopping in the emergency lane without an emergency; test driving or learning to drive a motor vehicle.
