What are the penalties for cutting in line?

When passing through an intersection controlled by traffic signals, failing to enter the guiding lane according to the required direction of travel will result in a fine and a 2-point penalty as per regulations. If a motor vehicle violates the prohibition line indication, i.e., driving over a solid line, it will be subject to a fine and a 3-point penalty according to the rules.
After driving for so many years, what I hate the most is lane cutting behavior because it directly endangers road safety. According to traffic regulations, forcibly changing lanes to cut in line can result in a fine of 100 to 200 yuan and 2 demerit points. Once at a congested intersection, someone recklessly cut in line, causing a chain-reaction rear-end collision. The police arrived and issued a ticket on the spot, and the incident disrupted traffic for over half an hour. Although the penalty isn’t severe, accumulated demerit points reaching 12 will require retaking the driving test, which is even more troublesome. I suggest everyone observe road conditions in advance, maintain a safe distance, and use dashcam footage for reporting violations. Developing good habits not only helps avoid fines but also reduces accidents—just thinking about it makes me feel much more at ease.
