What are the noticeable effects after replacing spark plugs?

The benefits of replacing spark plugs include improved vehicle power performance. Spark plugs themselves are wear-prone components that require regular replacement. If spark plugs are damaged, they can directly cause issues such as electrical leakage in the vehicle's ignition system, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power. The most significant problem is difficulty in ignition, which affects the normal operation of the vehicle. Severe erosion of spark plugs, such as scarring at the top, damage, or melted and eroded electrodes, indicates that the spark plugs are damaged and should be replaced. Location of spark plugs: Spark plugs are installed on the side or top of the engine. Early spark plugs were connected to the distributor via cylinder wires, but over the past decade, engines in small cars have mostly been modified to have ignition coils directly connected to the spark plugs. Spark plug replacement interval: Under normal maintenance conditions, spark plugs should be replaced after driving 40,000 to 60,000 kilometers. However, this may vary depending on the brand and engine, so it is recommended to follow the user manual. Generally, platinum spark plugs should be replaced at 40,000 kilometers, ordinary nickel alloy spark plugs at 20,000 kilometers, and iridium spark plugs at 60,000 to 80,000 kilometers.
I recently changed the spark plugs in my car, and the difference is quite noticeable. Before, when starting the car, I had to wait a few seconds, but now it starts immediately as soon as I turn the key—quick and crisp. At idle, the engine no longer shakes, making the ride much smoother inside the car. Acceleration is also more seamless; previously, there was a slight hesitation when pressing the accelerator, but now it responds instantly, making highway overtaking effortless. Fuel consumption has improved too—it used to burn 8 liters per 100 kilometers, but now it’s down to just over 7 liters, saving me a few dozen bucks on gas each month. Upon inspection, I found that the old spark plugs were worn out, causing uneven ignition. After replacing them, fuel combustion became more efficient, naturally boosting performance. This change has made daily driving much more comfortable, so I recommend regular spark plug maintenance to prevent minor issues from escalating.
