New vehicle inspection regulations in November 2021 are as follows: Expansion of private vehicle exemption scope: Expanding the scope of private vehicle exemptions and optimizing the inspection cycle (effective from November 20, 2020). On the basis of exempting non-operational mini and small passenger vehicles with 6 seats or fewer within 6 years, non-operational mini and small passenger vehicles with 7 to 9 seats within 6 years are now included in the exemption scope. For non-operational mini and small passenger vehicles over 6 years but less than 10 years, the inspection frequency is adjusted from once a year to once every two years. Electronic inspection labels: Starting from March 1, 2020, 16 cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Harbin, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Jinan, Zhuzhou, Shenzhen, Haikou, Chengdu, Guiyang, Yuxi, and Urumqi became the first batch of pilot cities for electronic vehicle inspection labels. Electronic inspection labels have the same validity as paper labels. Vehicles that have received electronic inspection labels no longer need to display paper labels, and traffic authorities will not penalize vehicles for not displaying (or affixing) inspection labels. Electronic inspection labels can be downloaded and saved on mobile phones for offline presentation when needed.
