What are the main types of drive motors for electric vehicles?

Electric vehicle drive motors mainly include centralized drive motors, wheel-side drive motors, and hub drive motors. Among them, the centralized drive motor is relatively similar to traditional axles, requiring transitional components such as reducers and drive shafts to drive the wheels. The wheel-side drive motor structure requires at least two drive motors, which are arranged on both sides of the axle. They achieve speed reduction and torque increase through side reducers and wheel-side reducers to drive individual wheels. Wheel-side motors may or may not require drive shafts, which is a key difference from centralized drive motors. Hub motors integrate all components, such as the drive motor and reducer, inside the wheel hub to directly drive the wheels.
