BMW cars have gear positions including P, D, N, R, and S. The usage methods for P, D, N, and R gears are as follows. Usage of P and D gears: The P gear is the parking gear, used when the car is not driven for a long time; the D gear is the drive gear. By holding down the lock button on the left side of the gear lever and pulling it backward, a green 'D' will appear on the gear lever, indicating the car is in D gear. Usage of N and R gears The N gear is the neutral gear, used when the car is parked for a short time without turning off the engine, such as when waiting at a red light or in traffic. Push the gear lever forward until an 'N' appears on it, indicating the car is in N gear. The R gear is the reverse gear, used when the car is moving backward.
