I've been driving the XT5 for almost three years now, and the entire left side of the steering wheel is dedicated to cruise control. The round button with an arrow in the middle is the cruise control switch—press it and use the adjacent +/- buttons to adjust speed. When the car ahead slows down, just press CANCEL to exit cruise control, and hit RESUME to reactivate it. The vertical bar buttons on the right control following distance, making it easy to adjust proximity. The right side of the steering wheel is more lively, with the most noticeable being the phone icon button—it handles all call functions. The rotary dial adjusts volume, while the up/down arrows change songs or radio stations. The microphone button wakes the voice assistant. Steering wheel heating isn't useful in the south, but my northern friends say pressing the heating button in the lower left corner for 3 seconds brings warmth in winter. There are also two metal paddles on the back—left for downshifting and right for upshifting.
