When it comes to BMW's four-seat convertibles, my favorite is the 4 Series Convertible. I usually call it the BMW 4 Series Convertible or Cabrio, and its soft-top design opens and closes super fast—just 30 seconds to complete. The rear seats aren’t particularly spacious but are decent enough for short trips with friends. If you’re after performance, the 430i’s 2.0T packs a punch, while the M440i’s 3.0T inline-six delivers thrilling acceleration. With the current G23 generation switching from a hardtop to a soft-top, trunk space has actually become more practical. This car is quite popular in the tuning scene—throw on an MP kit, and it’s perfect for spirited mountain drives. Of course, the 8 Series Convertible is more premium but significantly pricier, so it really depends on your budget.

For those who frequently commute with a convertible, the BMW 4 Series four-seater convertible is highly recommended, specifically the 430i Cabriolet. The sound insulation of the soft top is better than expected, and it remains quiet even on rainy days. The key point is the rear seats—they fit two people under 1.7 meters comfortably, but taller passengers might find their knees a bit cramped. Last year, I took my parents for a spin to Chongming Island, and they were quite satisfied with the ride. If the budget allows, go straight for the 840i Convertible—the 3.0T engine is as smooth as silk, and the Nappa leather seats with ventilation are a lifesaver in summer. However, the 4 Series has a hidden advantage—its roll bars are active pop-up, a rare safety feature among convertibles. If buying now, it's recommended to opt for the laser headlights, which are exceptionally bright at night.

As someone who has owned three BMW convertibles, I can tell you: go for the 4 Series if you need four seats. The upgraded soft top's sound insulation is now comparable to the old hardtop, but it's 40% lighter and more fuel-efficient. I recommend buying a used post-2021 model—the iDrive 7 system is significantly smoother than older versions. Fitting a child safety seat in the back is practically doable; kids love it when you drop the top for school runs. Watch out for the roof rail tracks—there have been reports of aging seals causing squeaks. The M Sport suspension is a bit firm over speed bumps; opt for comfort suspension if you're hauling kids. The 8 Series is luxurious, sure, but its price tag could get you two 4 Series cars.

What does BMW xDrive mean?

BMW xDrive refers to the all-wheel drive system. The following is knowledge about the all-wheel drive system. Working principle: The sedan AWD system is actually a four-wheel drive with a driving force distribution control method. It uses computers and various continuously improved sensors to constantly judge the dynamic adhesion of the tires to the ground and the driver's driving intention, actively controls the differential state of the car's differential, balances the driving force of each wheel, and optimizes the various performance of the car. Performance characteristics: As the speed of modern sedans becomes higher and higher, especially when driving on highways, wind resistance increases. To maximize the transmission of driving force, the use of an AWD system can fully utilize the vehicle's weight to improve driving force. It enhances the car's dynamic performance on various road surfaces. Traditional front-wheel-drive sedans may experience understeer during acceleration and cornering, while traditional rear-wheel-drive sedans may show a tendency to oversteer during acceleration and cornering. However, sedans equipped with an AWD system can distribute the driving force between the front and rear wheels according to the car's driving state, significantly improving the car's steering performance.

What does BMW xDrive mean?

BMW xDrive refers to the all-wheel drive system. The xDrive system continuously changes the torque distribution according to road conditions, transmitting the required torque to the front and rear wheels. In the default state, the front-to-rear torque distribution is 40:60, with the maximum front-to-rear torque distribution ratio ranging from 0:100 to 100:0. The xDrive system also constantly exchanges information with the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, allowing it to detect wheel slippage from the very beginning, and torque distribution can be completed within 0.1 seconds. Currently, the BMW X1, X3, and X5 series all feature the same xDrive system. For example, the BMW X5 is the brand's first four-wheel-drive SUV model, with a wheelbase of 2933mm, a top speed of 250 km/h, front-engine four-wheel drive, and a displacement of 2.9 liters.

Is the right front straight or right turn?

Right front is straight, not right turn. This belongs to lane changing, not turning. Only when the car turns right is it considered a right turn lane. The right front is usually a dedicated right turn lane, so it counts as going straight. Here is some introduction about driving to the left front: 1. Sections where it appears: The sign for driving to the front can also appear on sections such as overpasses, ramps, exits from the main road, Y-shaped intersections, etc. 2. Lane driving: To the left is the left turn lane, and straight ahead is the straight lane. If it is to the left front within the intersection range, and the intersection allows this, because you need to cross the center line to the left, you should still take the left turn lane and enter the intersection when the left turn light is green.

What Should Novice Drivers Do When Encountering Heavy Traffic on the Road?

If driving a manual transmission car, you can use the half-clutch technique in combination with first gear to drive slowly. Here are some solutions for novice drivers encountering heavy traffic: 1. Control your speed: For novice drivers, controlling speed is the most important. It's better to drive slowly than fast, as slow driving is the simplest safety knowledge. Estimate the speed of the car in front, always observe the situation, use peripheral vision to monitor the road and surroundings, and maintain a safe distance. 2. Maintain a stable mindset: Novice drivers should focus on staying calm and relaxed. Playing some soothing music while driving can help maintain a pleasant and relaxed state of mind. 3. Overtake and change lanes decisively and reasonably: Novice drivers should overtake and change lanes decisively and reasonably. A common mistake for beginners is forgetting to shift gears. It's unrealistic for novice drivers in urban areas to stick to one lane without changing lanes or overtaking. When changing lanes, always check the traffic in adjacent lanes through the rearview mirror and judge the distance based on the speed of the following car. Additionally, according to traffic laws, you must signal before changing lanes; otherwise, in case of a collision, the lane-changing vehicle will bear full responsibility.

How is the engine oil grade table classified?

1. Classification based on SAE viscosity grades: Engine oils are categorized by SAE viscosity grades, with 6 types for winter, 5 types for summer, and 16 types for all-season use. The 6 winter grades are 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W, and 25W. The "W" stands for Winter, and the smaller the preceding number, the better the oil's fluidity at lower temperatures. The 5 summer grades are 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. Higher numbers indicate greater viscosity and better high-temperature protection, suitable for hotter environments. The 16 all-season grades are 5W20, 5W30, 5W40, 5W50, 10W20, 10W30, 10W40, 10W50, 15W30, 15W40, 15W50, 20W20, 20W30, 20W40, and 20W50. 2. Classification based on API quality grades: API divides engine oils into S-series (for gasoline engines) and C-series (for diesel engines). If labeled with both S and C, the oil is suitable for both gasoline and diesel engines. Each series is ordered alphabetically (A, B, C, D, E, F, etc.), with later letters indicating higher performance levels. 3. Current gasoline engine oil grades include: SA, SB, SC, SD, SE, SF, SG, SH, SJ, SL, SM, SN, and SP. Diesel engine oil grades include: CA, CB, CC, CD, CD-II, CE, CF-II, CF-4, CG-4, CH-4, and CI-4.
