What are the effects of a malfunctioning car cooling fan on the vehicle?

Car radiator damage can have the following effects: 1. Increased temperature in the coolant reservoir: This leads to a rise in engine temperature, affecting engine operation. 2. Engine radiator cracking: This can cause coolant leakage, obstructing the water circulation system and resulting in elevated engine temperature, which impacts vehicle performance. 3. Splashing of coolant: In severe cases, it may lead to engine seizure and damage. Below are the reasons for radiator failure: 1. Clogged air filter: The air filter's function is to prevent external dust from entering the vehicle. Over time, the air filter can accumulate dirt, develop odors, or even become blocked. When the air filter is clogged with dust and debris, it significantly reduces the airflow of the air conditioning system. 2. Faulty fan relay: If the coolant temperature meets the required level but the cooling fan still does not operate, this could indicate a malfunction in the cooling fan relay. Relay failure is typically caused by poor electrical contact in the wiring. 3. Malfunctioning thermostat switch: Most vehicles use electronically controlled cooling fans, which operate only when the coolant reaches the specified temperature. If the thermostat switch is faulty, it can cause the engine temperature to rise, preventing the cooling fan from receiving power and resulting in non-operation. Additionally, excessively low coolant temperature can also cause the cooling fan to stop functioning.

A broken cooling fan can cause serious issues, as I experienced once while driving. That time, stuck in traffic on the highway, the temperature gauge suddenly shot up to the red line, and smoke started coming from under the hood. The fan is supposed to cool the system down, but when it stopped, the coolant got dangerously hot. An overheated engine can damage the cylinders or even cause a blown head gasket, leading to repairs costing thousands. The problem is worse in traffic—without the fan, cooling is slow, and the temperature rises in minutes. You also have to worry about electronic sensors burning out, adding extra costs. I rolled down the windows to help cool it down temporarily, but it's best to call a tow truck for repairs. Now during maintenance, I always check if the fan switch is working properly.

What could be the reason for a car horn not working?

The following are the reasons why a car horn may not work: 1. Contact point erosion: Prolonged pressing of the horn can cause the contacts to erode, creating impedance. This reduces the current flowing through the electromagnetic coil, decreasing the electromagnetic force, which fails to attract the armature to drive the diaphragm for normal vibration, resulting in a hoarse sound or even no sound at all. 2. Poor sealing leading to moisture: The interior of the horn is sealed. If the seal is not tight, moisture may enter during car washing, or water vapor may be present in the internal air space. This moisture can cause the contacts to become damp, preventing them from functioning properly. 3. Poor contact at the electromagnetic coil terminal: Some horns have enameled wire terminals of the electromagnetic coil connected to aluminum rivets by crimping rather than secure welding. If the insulation paint on the enameled wire is not completely removed or the rivet crimping is not secure, it can easily lead to a poor connection, causing the horn to malfunction.

How to Determine the Age of Car Glass?

The production date of car glass is located on the trademark in the corner of the glass, consisting of several dots and a number. More details about the production date of car glass are as follows: 1. The number represents the production year of the car glass. If the dots are on the left, it means the glass was produced in the first half of the year, while dots on the right indicate production in the second half of the year. By analyzing the number and black dots on the trademark, you can determine the production date of the car glass. 2. The date code on the glass has only one digit, representing the last digit of the year. For example, the number 8 stands for 2008. 3. The production dates of the glass and the vehicle will not differ by more than ten years. The month of the glass production can be analyzed and determined by the black dots before or after the number.

Is the Buick Regal a Three-Cylinder or Four-Cylinder?

Buick Regal is equipped with a 4-cylinder engine. A four-cylinder engine, also known as a four-cylinder power unit, is a machine capable of converting one form of energy into another more useful form. Below are the differences between hatchbacks and sedans: Space differences: The absence of a trunk in a hatchback significantly reduces the overall vehicle volume, which generally requires folding down the rear seats to match the space of a sedan. However, hatchbacks have some advantages when transporting items taller than they are wide, as the height of objects accommodated with the rear seats folded down is much greater than what the trunk can hold. Body weight differences: Due to the lack of a trunk, hatchbacks are much lighter in body weight, resulting in slightly better fuel efficiency compared to sedans.

What maintenance items are essential at 30,000 kilometers?

Essential maintenance items for a vehicle at 30,000 kilometers include oil change, oil filter replacement, air filter replacement, fuel filter replacement, throttle body cleaning, and spark plug replacement. Here are the details: 1. Engine Oil: Changing the engine oil and oil filter is mandatory at 30,000 kilometers. Under the harsh conditions of high temperature and high pressure inside the engine, the shelf life of the oil is significantly shortened, and its performance deteriorates, which over time fails to protect the engine. The oil filter prevents impurities from mixing with the oil, which can cause oxidation, leading to sludge and clogging the oil passages. 2. Throttle Body Cleaning: Throttle body cleaning is unnecessary before 30,000 kilometers. If the service advisor at a 4S shop or repair shop recommends this service at 10,000 or 20,000 kilometers, you can directly refuse it.
