The differences between the S and the Mercedes-Benz S are as follows: 1. Different positioning levels The starting price of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is half that of the Maybach. Therefore, the positioning of the two is different, with the Maybach S-Class clearly positioned higher than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, placing it between luxury and ultra-luxury. 2. Different body lengths The Maybach S-Class is longer than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Additionally, the wheel design of the Maybach is very unique, featuring the so-called 'big pie' wheels as the top configuration. 3. Different prices The Mercedes-Benz S-Class models start at 806,000 yuan, while the lowest-priced Maybach S-Class starts at around 1.4 million yuan. The price difference between the two series shows that the Maybach costs about half as much again as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which also largely reflects that the Maybach S-Class is several grades higher than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

I particularly love the interior feel. The rear seats of the S are like a private jet, featuring heated, ventilated, and massaging functions, along with independent space and freedom of movement. The interior of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is already excellent but not as extreme. The Maybach pays more attention to details, such as softer ambient lighting design and better noise control inside the cabin. Sitting in it, you can immediately feel a sense of prestige. If you're not pursuing ultimate comfort, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is sufficient and can save you a lot of money.

As a value-conscious buyer, I consider the S-Class to be the pinnacle of luxury, but the Maybach S-Class feels more like its upgraded version. The base price is significantly higher, yet it offers considerably more features, such as enhanced rear-seat comfort functions. If you only drive it daily, the extra cost may not be justified. However, for hosting VIPs or business use, the Maybach's commanding presence and spacious advantages are undeniable. Maintenance costs are also higher, and insurance is more expensive—overall, it depends on your needs.

As a car enthusiast, the S retains a sense of brand heritage, having once been an independent luxury brand rivaling Rolls-Royce, while the Mercedes-Benz S is the flagship mass-market model. The Maybach S exudes more prestige in design and details, such as its distinctive emblem and handcrafted craftsmanship, making it feel like a royal chariot when driven. In contrast, the Mercedes-Benz S is more practical, has higher ownership numbers, and offers more affordable used car prices.

Both cars are comfortable to drive in the city, but the S has a longer body which can be a bit troublesome when parking, especially in narrow alleys. In terms of interior, the Maybach is more refined with independent rear seat controls, but upgrading isn't necessary for daily child pickups. Spending hundreds of thousands more on the price, with higher insurance and maintenance costs, I think the average person would be better off choosing the Mercedes S. It allows you to save the budget for travel or other investments.
