Here are the differences between the Audi A7 and A7L: 1. Exterior differences: (1) The A7L does not feature a fastback-style design on the side profile, but the frameless doors are retained despite the lengthening. (2) The A7 has a fastback-style design with a more raised body. 2. Size differences: (1) The A7L measures 5076mm in length, 1908mm in width, and 1429mm in height. (2) The A7 measures 4979mm in length, 1908mm in width, and 1408mm in height. 3. Configuration differences: The Audi A7L offers more features compared to the imported A7, including 21-inch RS sport wheels, DAWS dynamic all-wheel steering, active air suspension, and intelligent quattro all-wheel drive technology. These features are rare among other models in the same class, further enhancing the product appeal of the new car.

As someone who has driven quite a few cars, I find the differences between the A7 and A7L quite noticeable. The imported A7 retains the original fastback design with particularly smooth rear lines, making it a real head-turner on the road, though the rear headroom is indeed a bit cramped. The domestically produced A7L by SAIC has extended the wheelbase by about 10 cm, making the entire body appear more elongated. It ditches the hatchback design for a traditional sedan trunk, offering about two fists more knee room in the rear seats, making it especially suitable for long family trips. Price-wise, the domestically produced A7L is over 100,000 RMB cheaper than the imported A7, and maintenance is much more convenient. However, when it comes to driving pleasure, the A7's frameless doors and low-slung body still offer a more exhilarating feel.

I recently compared these two models at a 4S dealership. The A7L is noticeably about 10 centimeters longer than the A7, especially offering much more generous rear legroom and featuring thickened seat cushions. The imported A7 retains its sweeping fastback design with a hatchback-style trunk that provides a large opening for easy luggage loading, while the A7L has switched to a conventional trunk lid but actually offers slightly more cargo space. In terms of driving dynamics, the A7 feels more agile when cornering, whereas the A7L's chassis tuning leans toward comfort, making speed bumps less jarring. There's also a significant price difference: the domestically produced A7L costs around 500,000 RMB out-the-door, while the imported A7 starts at over 600,000 RMB. The A7L comes with additional localized features, such as a customized infotainment system.

Many friends are torn between these two Audi coupe models. The imported A7 comes with a full range of 3.0T engines, delivering ample power and a thrilling drive. Its sleek fastback design looks stunning, but rear passengers might find headroom tight. The A7L, localized for the Chinese market, features a lengthened wheelbase, offering much more comfortable rear seating space, plus suspension softened for domestic road conditions. One easily overlooked detail: the A7 uses a hatchback trunk design, allowing bulky items to be loaded, whereas the A7L adopts a traditional sedan trunk with a smaller opening but greater depth. Maintenance costs show a stark difference—local production cuts parts prices by 30-40%. For purists, the imported version retains more character; for practicality, the long-wheelbase model wins.
