What are the consequences of not changing motorcycle gear oil?

Scooters have a separate rear gearbox. If the gear oil inside the gearbox is not changed or symptoms of insufficient gear oil appear, it will accelerate the wear of the gears inside the rear gearbox. In severe cases, it may even cause the rear axle bearings to "dry grind." Specific symptoms include minor abnormal noises developing into severe abnormal noises, accompanied by rear wheel wobbling when braking (rear brake). Relevant details are as follows: Gear oil specifications: Generally GL-5, 80 (85)W/90 or SAE140. The grade and viscosity of gear oil are different from regular engine oil. Its main functions are anti-oxidation, anti-foaming, high-pressure resistance, and suspending gear engagement to protect gears and bearings. Therefore, it should be changed regularly as required by the manual. If the gear oil is not changed: Over time, the gear oil will deteriorate and lose its protective function, thereby damaging the gears and bearings inside the reduction gearbox (gear oil does not lubricate the main bearing of the rear wheel). Once damaged, all components must be replaced (GY-6 model has 3 wheels and 6 bearings), which is quite difficult and costly. In severe cases, the rear wheel may not rotate, and even the large and small gearboxes may be damaged.
