What Are the Conditions for Airbag Deployment?
1 Answers
For most vehicle models, the airbag will deploy when the following three conditions are met: 1. The set speed must be reached: for example, speed >50km/h; 2. The point of impact must be near the sensor: generally within a 60° angle on either side of the vehicle's front; 3. The object hit must be a rigidly fixed item: such as rocks, walls, or other hard objects. Below is additional information about car airbags: 1. Use in conjunction with seat belts: In the event of a crash, if seat belts are not worn, the protective effect of the airbag will be significantly reduced. Using an airbag alone can reduce accident mortality by about 18%, using a seat belt alone can reduce it by about 42%, and when airbags and seat belts are used together, accident mortality can be reduced by about 47%. 2. Do not place items on the airbag: The force of the airbag deploying is very strong, and if there are items placed on it, they can cause secondary injuries when ejected. Therefore, do not place any items in front of or near the airbag.
