Common faults in the braking system: Poor parking brake effectiveness fault: Fault phenomenon: After pulling the parking brake control handle, the vehicle can still start, or cannot stably stop on a slope, causing slipping. The main reasons for poor parking brake effectiveness are excessive brake clearance, too small contact area between the shoe and drum, oil contamination or hardening of the brake shoe or lining, exposed rivets, or severe deformation of the brake drum or disc. Parking brake lever fails to lock fault: Fault phenomenon: After pulling the parking brake control handle, it cannot be released; once released, the lever returns to its initial position. The main causes of the fault are a failed or broken pawl spring, which should be replaced; excessive wear or stripping of the pawl and gear teeth, which should be replaced; deformation or jamming of the pawl or lever, which should be corrected or replaced; or fallen rivets on the pawl or tooth plate, which should be repaired.
