I came across this when registering a new vehicle for license plates before - the classification of motor vehicles is really diverse. Simply put, it mainly depends on three aspects: by usage into private passenger cars, commercial taxis, or freight trucks; by engine displacement where below 1.6L counts as small-displacement economy models; and by fuel type clearly divided into gasoline, diesel, and new energy electric vehicles. What impressed me most was that the traffic management office's chart categorized micro vehicles under passenger cars, but if the cargo capacity exceeds 500kg, it must be classified as a light truck. Veteran transport drivers need to pay special attention to this boundary, otherwise annual inspections could cause trouble.
