What Are the Causes of Vehicle Idle Vibration?
1 Answers
There are six main reasons why a car may shake at idle: 1. Intake system failure: Excessive carbon buildup in the throttle body or intake manifold, clogged air filter element, leaks in the intake piping or EGR valve, or a faulty intake pressure sensor. 2. Fuel system failure: Issues with fuel supply pressure or faulty fuel injectors. 3. Ignition system failure: Spark plugs failing to fire or producing weak sparks, faulty ignition module or coil, or issues with sensors or the ignition control circuit. 4. Electronic control system failure: Damaged internal circuits or poor connections in the electronic control system. 5. Mechanical structure failure: Damaged or worn piston rings, carbon buildup in piston ring grooves or cylinders, bent or deformed connecting rods, or incorrect timing belt installation. 6. Other causes: Systems like the air conditioning or automatic transmission increasing engine idle load, clogged catalytic converter, or imbalances in rotating components such as the crankshaft or flywheel.
