The function of a spark plug is to release the high-voltage current converted by the ignition coil between the center electrode and the side electrode, igniting the combustible air-fuel mixture in the engine combustion chamber and maintaining normal engine operation. This means spark plugs must endure extremely high pressure and temperature. Over time, carbon deposits can accumulate, affecting electrode discharge and ultimately harming engine performance. Spark plugs do not necessarily need to be replaced strictly according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule. The actual replacement time can be determined based on the condition of the spark plugs. If a spark plug is nearing the end of its life, the following symptoms may appear: 1.
