What are the automatic transmission gears in a car?

Automatic transmission, as the name suggests, means that the driver does not need to manually shift gears. The vehicle will automatically select the appropriate gear based on the driving speed and traffic conditions. Generally, there are six gear positions on an automatic transmission car, from top to bottom: P, R, N, D, S, L. The P gear is the parking gear, used for long-term parking of the vehicle; the R gear is the reverse gear, engaged when the vehicle is moving backward; the N gear is the neutral gear, used when the vehicle is parked for a short time without turning off the engine; the D gear is the drive gear; the S gear is the sport mode, making the vehicle drive more sporty; the L gear is the low gear. When starting the car, press the brake, shift the gear lever to D, release the handbrake, and then gently accelerate to move the car forward. During normal driving, the driver does not need to shift to other gears, as the car will automatically switch between gears 1-4 based on the speed. Some advanced cars may have D2 and D3 gears. Shifting to D2 or D3 limits the transmission to gears 2 or 3, allowing the vehicle to maintain a lower gear and output more power under special road conditions.
